Rihanna's New Single is Days from Release - Atlanta Black Star

Fans of pop sensation Rihanna will need to wait a few more days to hear her newest single, after the French radio DJ who supplied the original rumor failed to release the track on Monday. September 17th was the rumored date for the debut single off Rihanna’s new album, but Benjamin Galouye of French radio station NRJ announced via Twitter that the release had been pushed back.

“We were notified that #Rihanna and her staff decided to delay her new single. It should premiere later this week,” he wrote.

Shortly after NRJ amended its report songwriter Sia Furler posted a cryptic tweet of her own, saying simply “Next Monday should feel pretty good.” Furler has been listed as one of the writers for Rihanna’s upcoming seventh album, and is believed to be the writer of the still unnamed single. The new album has been rumored for a November release, with artists David Guetta and Ne-Yo already confirmed as contributors.

Rihanna has also earned six nominations for MTV’s European Music Awards, which come just 2 weeks after the star took home Video of the Year at MTV’s Video Music Awards. The video that won her the VMA trophy, “We Found Love,” has been nominated for Best Song as well as Best Video in Europe, with Rihanna also getting the nod for Best Female and three other categories. Taylor Swift was the only other artist to earn as many nominations.

The 24-year-old star has shown no signs of slowing down, with her seventh album in as many years nearing completion, and her fifth tour, the Diamonds World Tour set to open in March of next year. A week long wait for Rihanna’s newest single might seem like a long time, but we’ll be hearing plenty from her for the rest of the year.
